D' AMBUSH KILLINGS / In To the Eyes of a Killer

I helped a mother of a man imprisoned for one murder, so she could find out the truth.  I had no idea of what I was about to find out or what the real truth was! I was asked in January of 1998, if I would help her, because no one else would and the murder happened in 1990.  He had been in prison and off the streets for over 8 years and still, everyone remembered the murder like it had just happened.  They are still scared of him and this story ... I did not know the dark secret between mother and son either, until it was almost too late.

Imagine a peaceful night of relaxing fishing at a Dam Reservoir, where you and your family have vacationed for the last 18 years. On this particular night you’ve disappeared and the only evidence you’ve left behind is a truck, a pool of blood, tissue, a blood trail and drag marks.

This is where this story started for the Police; however for Dennis Roe, it was a night of unimaginable fear and horror.  The crime scene showed someone was brutally attacked and murdered.  Where was the body and who was the cowardly killer. What had happened and why would anyone end up missing like this? For the family it was where the questions started and their nightmares began. This was not the first time he/they had killed in this location.  He is suspected of killing elseware, including the Colonial Parkway. He is one of Virginia’s most prolific serial killers. He/They is known to have killed internationally, discarding the bodies in the water, so as not be found. There are over a hundred unsolved murders where he traveled.  It took me over 6 months to find out who this man really was, where he had been and some of the murders he was involved in...  Once I knew his code name, we knew who he was.  We ran his name and that was when  a special forces team from another country was sent to kill me!  Find out how our fear of this killer's background, saved mine and two Special Agent Detectives of the Virginia State Police, from being killed in their office.

While in prison, the killer confessed to me with regard to the first murder he was suspected of.  Why he said,  "I was ordered to kill this person". Where would orders come from to kill another person on United States soil?  Confessing to being a 'wetboy' and under orders, because of national security reasons.  It took over 8 years before he would talk to anyone about what happened.  Why?  Fortunately or unfortunately, I was the only one he liked and trusted enough to tell.  It took almost 9 years and at least two killings to convict him of one murder.

When his mother heard him cofirm that he really was a killer and how he killed; she wasn't surprised by what he had done.  She was angry for him going to the dam that night, after she had told him not to.  She told me when we left the prison that she still wanted to get him out of prison.  I believe she knew he was guilty all along; however she was surprised that he admitted it to me or anyone. He was so dangerous they convicted him of  illegal weapons charges to get him offf the streets, until they could find the evidence to convict him of murder....beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Find out how NCIS, satellites, US Navy divers and the relentless determination of one Virginia State Police Special Agent, found the evidence they needed.  It had been hidden by the killer before he was arrested and convicted of illegal weapons.  The killer thought he had gotten away again with murder; however an intense investigation was underway while the killer was incarcerated for illegal weapons and just before he was due to be released back on the streets.  When the evidence was discovered, it was still nothing but a circumstantial case at best.  Find out how his defense attorney never said anything to defend his client after the Commonwealth had presented it's case, except "the defense rest"!  Why some of the jurors were so scared, they asked to be escorted in and out of the court during his trial.

After reading this story; you will think twice before going on what could turn out to be your last outing ever.  He offered me the opportunity upon his release for him and I to go camping.  Find out what I told him and why I meant it.  Find out how I used the killers own words to keep him in prison, even after I filed his writ of error coram vobis with the state.

WARNING:  This book scared me while writing it, find out why and how?
